Crunch time is here and I'm set to sign the papers tomorrow. I've ixnayed the plan for a 370Z and instead decided an E92 328i AT would be a much more reasonable purchase. I'd like a 6MT but want the wife to enjoy the car too. I'd love the power of the N54/55, but reliability is an issue as I will be DDing this car, so silky smooth N52 it is. Sport Pack, Nav and Cold Weather Pack. 127,000km.

But... There are certain people that tell me I am much better off getting a newer Honda Civic, a suggestion I openly scoff at. But then the logical part of my mind starts playing games with me. " BMW? Are you crazy? "

Come on ladies and gents.... Should I pull the trigger?

I wouldn't. Just me, I've driven thousands of them and they just lack character. If you end up getting a 328i, make it an E91. Otherwise I'd stick to something else. My .02

Fuck it - might as well. In another 33,000km you'll need new plugs, water pump and trans fluid.

Any chance there's a canadian carmax? I'd start to worry about faults down the line if both you and other people will be driving it in the event they get stranded. I know, I know, not too likely, but at least make sure it has a good inspection done to it by a BMW shop first. Just to play it safe.

Thousands? E91's aren't very common around here. At least not for sale.

Think happy thoughts. Think about that engine note. Think about that nicely weighted steering wheel Think about what people will think about you when you tell them you drive a BMW. Think about those kids in a riced out civic that wanna race you. blah blah blah pull the trigger.

So, you mean lack character like a Toyota Corolla? Or compared to an E28 M5 or something? I'm a wagon guy through and through, but would probably go V70R if I was leaning towards a five door...

They are just so, bland I guess. I've been in and out of so many BMW's that I've grown quite bored with anything that isn't tuned within 5HP of blowing up or an unusual M something though. To me, a 328i or 320i or a 528i is just a car like a Honda accord is to a regular Joe. I could never buy an E9x (M3 excluded) unless it was an E91 6 speed 328i or an E90 335i
